Under close supervision within clearly defined guidelines, design, develop, document, test, and debug, and support new and existing software systems and/or applications built on the ServiceNow cloud-based workflow automation PaaS. This includes implementation of out-of-the-box SaaS ServiceNow offerings such as ITOM, ITFM, ITAM, ITBM/SPM, Virtual Agents, AI, as well as ServiceNow Mobile applications, at the Pro or Enterprise level. It would also include custom applications built on the Now Platform as needed by the business.

  • Necessary Contacts: To do this job effectively the incumbent has to be in contact with all levels of BCBSLA personnel.



  • Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

  • Two years of related experience can be used in lieu of an Associate’s degree.

Work Experience

  • Educational background and/or experience using general development technologies (i.e., C#, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Python, SSRS, SSIS, SQL Coding, XML, CSS, REST) or comparable computing technology(i.e. .NET, Java, BI, ERP, Mobile Development) or comparable cloud platform (Salesforce, Power Platform, WorkDay, SAP, Oracle Cloud, Mendix, Appian, etc.) as approved by the hiring manager.

  • Preferred educational background and/or experience with Cloud providers such as AWS or Azure

  • Preferred educational background and/or experience in agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD, Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • ServiceNow experience preferred

  • Preferred educational background and/or experience with Oauth2, APIs, Microservices

  • Preferred educational background and/or experience with GitHub, DevOps practices, Agile/Scrum Practices, pipelines and automated deployments.

  • Ability to keep up with fast changing cloud technologies such as ServiceNow, Azure, AWS.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize a heavy workload in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Understanding of business operations and key business drivers (or aptitude to develop understanding quickly).

  • The candidate must be flexible in terms of working practices as the role requires on call rotation which might include some evening, weekend and holiday work.

  • Serve as technical resource and assist on future development projects as we expand use of the platform. Leverage ServiceNow IntegrationHub to integrate with other cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365 and Workday.

  • May participate in full Agile software development life cycle including requirements analysis and design as performed in SAFe and Scrum. May write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements.

  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and new ServiceNow modules for implementation. Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed.

  • Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements. Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs

  • Gather information from stakeholders to document functional, system, and data requirements.

  • Maintain knowledge of departmental service offerings and business requirements to ensure solutions efficiently and effectively meet business needs

  • Create custom applications primarily on the ServiceNow Platform and/or other platforms as needed.

  • Utilize Java Scripting, HTML, CSS, and PowerShell to deliver solutions that automate and audit business processes

  • Collaborate with stakeholders by creating and refining user stories in an Agile development framework.

  • Participate in professional meetings with business stakeholders and teammates.

  • Participate in certifying all applications for use after a ServiceNow upgrade completes.

  • Performs continuous learning concerning the ever-changing ServiceNow platform. Learns about new modules, reads, and understands release-notes, documents findings and presents findings to the team.

  • Analyze results of testing to ensure technology solution matches the organization's business needs.

  • Research and remain informed of new technology and development tools.

  • Provide support to the testing team on an as needed basis.

  • Document system problems and resolutions for future reference.

  • Understands IT Departmental Goals and Objectives and delivers work products to contribute to those goals.

  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting assistance on software application related issues.
