POSITION PURPOSE

This position plans, designs, installs, configures, monitors, and maintains the integrity, security, availability, reliability and performance of all primary and auxiliary technical architecture for the analytics platforms, applications, and database management systems including but not limited to Tableau, Microsoft Azure, iCEDQ, and Teradata Vantage. Provides extended-level technical support and timely assistance to the clients. Provides tactical planning and recommendations for IT and Analytical systems. Leads groups, provides coaching to other staff, and serves as subject matter expert (SME) for system design and changes of various levels of complexity, including those that are somewhat complex. Achieves successful results for the client and performs logical problem solving with minimal supervision / direction/ coaching. Accountable for complying with all laws and regulations associated with duties and responsibilities.

  • Necessary Contacts: To do this job effectively the incumbent has to be in contact with all levels of BCBSLA personnel and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent required

  • Four years of related experience can be used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

Work Experience

  • 4 years total related work experience in two primary areas: application platform administration and database systems (either administration or programming).

  • Must have experience in a minimum of two (2) of the following technical competencies: Tableau (preferred), Power BI (preferred) Active Directory (AD), Microsoft Azure, Workflow Automation, Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Containers as a Service (CaaS), AWS, Direct Connect, Express Route, Networking, scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, PowerShell, Perl, Ruby, and Python), dimensional modeling, massively parallel processing (MPP) databases.

  • Must have strong experience defining and resolving product or project problems and issues along with analyzing business requirements and evaluating alternatives.

  • Preferred experience in areas of specialty for application platform administration include but not limited to: Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server OS , Microsoft Active Directory (On-premises and Azure) , 365 Administration (Office, Teams, OneDrive, etc.), Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Desktop Analytics, Tableau, Power BI, Collibra, iCEDQ, Network/server/telecommunications systems software , Information security systems software , Large system design and implementation for 2000 or more users, Automation and orchestration technology (Ansible, VMware vRealize Automation, etc.)

  • Preferred experience in the areas of specialty for database systems include: Oracle (Unix & Windows), MS SQL Server (Unix & Windows), MongoDB, Document DB, Azure SQL, AWS Aurora, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Teradata

Skills and Abilities

  • Has demonstrated thorough knowledge, understanding and quality of systems installation and maintenance.

  • Has thorough communication and relationship management skills to exchange information and resolve problems with customers/clients.

  • Intermediate Networking knowledge.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable working in a cross-functional environment.

  • Application and system troubleshooting ability

  • Has demonstrated strong communication skills in order to interact with site peers for technical issues on systems

  • Has demonstrated success in assignments in technical field of specialization

  • Requires good technical knowledge on workstation and server platforms and middleware

  • Thorough knowledge of information technology practices and techniques for somewhat complex system design / implementation/ maintenance of corporate system architectures

  • Overall understanding of the application development life cycle (ADLC) and hardware / software infrastructure technology in such areas as systems programming, communications, server support, operating systems, and languages

  • Independently analyze and solve logical problems such as may be found in mathematics, statistics, etc.

  • Thorough understanding and technical skills for ensuring the integrity, security, availability, recoverability, reliability, and performance of one or more analytics platforms and database management systems as specified in the ‘Experience’ section above is required.

  • Ability to initiate and achieve successful results and perform logical problem solving independently and with minimal direction or coaching.

  • Ability to spearhead the planning, development and teams/projects in the thorough and accurate design of somewhat complex systems and changes as needed.

  • Ability to communicate clearly through the written and spoken word, including documenting comprehensive and concise project requirements for somewhat complex systems.

  • Ability to mentor or motivate other staff and serve as subject matter expert (SME) in area of specialty.

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently and change focus as demands change, while maintaining organization, following standard procedures, providing guidance and delivering results in accordance with requirements.

  • Effective internal customer service/consulting skills and techniques

  • Ability to readily learn new skills demonstrated by timeliness and quality of completing projects related to activities outside their area of specialty.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certifications in Analytical platforms preferred.

  • Oversees and provides guidance, comprehensive proposals regarding technical system architecture as needed for developing, monitoring, and maintaining IT and analytics tactical plans that conform to the mission, goals and objectives of the organization.

  • Provides leadership, mentoring and technical knowledge transfer for a small group of professionals to meet the needs and expectations of clients of corporate computerized systems.

  • Understands departmental goals and objectives and delivers work products to contribute to those goals independently.

  • Assumes responsibility for on-call and emergency response tasks as necessary.
