Facilitates service model for large group(s) accounts to include responsibility for customer service and benefits education of employees, maintaining positive relationships in meeting the needs of group executive management, and developing recommendations for plan improvements based on trend analysis. Provides service to members of existing groups as necessary as well as brokers and consultants. Responsible for maintaining good relationships with existing groups and their representatives in order to achieve the highest level of group account retention.

This role reports to this job: REGIONAL DIRECTOR, GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL SALES
Necessary Contacts: In order to effectively fulfill this position, the incumbent must be in contact with:Staff in Sales and Marketing, Customer Service, Underwriting, Provider Contracting and any other department as needed to efficiently serve the customer or renew the group. Daily contact with brokers, group leaders & employees, group management executives and decision makers and network providers.
Bachelor's of Sales, Marketing, or related field required
Four years of related experience can be used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- 2 years of experience in a marketing or sales environment required
Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of products, procedures, systems, and claims payment policy is required
Proficient understanding of Self-Funding, employee benefits and health insurance operations is required
Must have working knowledge of relevant software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and related software as well as other corporate programs and applications and the ability to learn new systems is required
Must have thorough knowledge to apply company policies and procedures, company guidelines, state and federal laws and mandates (e.g., HIPPA, COBRA, PPACA, etc.) to ensure information is current and accurate is required
Must demonstrate verbal and communication skills with the ability to interpret and communicate information with tact, diplomacy, patience and professionalism is required
Effective customer service, presentation, and organizational skills is required
Analytical or critical thinking skills is required
Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion is required
Must be able to travel 40% of time within the state and 5% of time out of state. This includes occasional overnight stays
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Louisiana Life and Health insurance license is preferred
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serves as primary contact to assigned group(s) and provides attentive customer service and benefits education in a professional and timely manner. Works directly with group executive management to achieve high satisfaction though addressing employee inquiries, tracking inquiries for trending and analysis, and developing improvements to the group service model.
Interacts with Strategic Account Manager and/or Account Executive and internal operational areas to address matters affecting the group and attends weekly meetings with group executives to address outstanding issues. Addresses sensitive employee issues in accordance with the summary plan document. Based on trend analysis, makes recommendations to group management on modifications to contracted benefits.
Assists Account Managers and Account Executives in the group enrollment process when necessary. Must be available to conduct employee meetings and answer benefit questions during these meetings as needed to promote accurate and expedient new group installation or existing group renewal processes.
Assists Account Managers and Account Executives in the group renewal process by preparing uncontested renewals of existing group business and completing necessary internal and external renewal documentation in order to attain the retention goals of the company.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge on contracts and claims payment policies and procedures in order to be able to address group employee inquiries and resolve issues in accordance with the group contract.
Provides on-site training to brokers and group leaders on the various electronic tools available through BCBSLA in order to foster the adoption of these tools. Creates customized group and broker educational materials and does onsite demonstrations/presentations including the use of the self-service tools.
Assists with eligibility issues, claims issues, and pharmacy issues on behalf of group administrators and members. Makes outreach calls to new groups and existing groups.
